Homework
Welcome to the HOMEWORK page!
Reading Raz Kids - This program has hundreds of leveled stories; both fiction and non-fiction. Students must log in using a password. New passwords and assignments will be posted as soon as we have completed the fall DRAs.
Math IXL - Our students are very fortunate that the district has subscribed to the IXL online math practice site. Each student will need to log in using their user name and password. I will be anxious to see everyone's progress, as I will receive frequent reports.
Math Facts Pro- This is an online site for students to practice their basic facts. They can choose from addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division.
Houghton Mifflin Math - As soon as assessments (both formal and informal) have been completed in the area of mathematics, second grade students are grouped for math three days each week. Certain concepts are taught in the math groups, while other concepts are taught within the regular classroom.
We strongly feel that by grouping students, we are better able to teach to the individual needs of every learner. Our math group days are Tuesday - Thursday. Each Monday and Friday are spent learning math facts, problem solving, calendar study, counting money, etc.
Spelling - Sitton - This site offers activities that go along with our district's spelling program. In addition to the Sitton program, students will also be placed in a spelling program called, Spell and Write. I really like the Spell and Write program, as it allows me to better meet each student's spelling needs. The program runs on a two week cycle. At the end of the second week students are tested over the words that they have been practicing.
